The University of Maryland Libraries extend
a number of resources and services through its Web site (www.lib.umd.edu/UMCP)
to meet the information needs of Online Studies students.
Services include:
- Research
Port brings the Library's databases, e-journals
and more into a central location where they are organized
alphabetically and by category. You can search databases
together or separately, depending on the resource. Searches
and individual records can be saved to your personal space
called “my Research Port.” You may access it from the main
library home page www.lib.umd.edu.

- Onsite borrowing privileges
are available at the College Park campus as well as the
campuses of the other libraries in the University System
of Maryland. Your University of Maryland I.D. card gives
you borrowing privileges at any of the University System
of Maryland Libraries. For information on borrowing policies

here. If you do not live in the vicinity of any USM
campus, use your local library's interlibrary loan service
to obtain book materials from the USM and other participating
libraries around the country.
- Interlibrary Loan of articles from
journals held on the College Park campus. If you are
unable to obtain journal articles from a local library's
collection, you can request them from Interlibrary Loan
by completing an online request form. Articles will be sent
by surface mail to your home address. Articles will soon
be available for a five dollar service fee from a secured
Web site made accessible by providing your e-mail address.

- Reference and instruction subject
specialists who specialize in information resources
across the disciplines also may be utilized. For a list

- "Ask a Librarian"
is an electronic reference service that provides answers
to brief, factual reference questions via e-mail to University
of Maryland faculty, staff and students. To read more about

- Subject guides and tutorials
are available to assist students with using electronic resources
