To be considered for admission to an online studies program at the University of Maryland, College Park, applicants must submit the following items to the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) office:

  1. A completed online application form for the appropriate program:
    Master of Life Sciences
    Professional Master of Engineering Fire Protection Option

  2. A nonrefundable application fee of $60.

  3. One copy of an official transcript from all previous institutions If you attended the University of Maryland, College Park the SPOC Office will obtain the records of College Park courses completed. To facilitate the processing and review of an application, send two sets of unofficial copies of transcripts from institutions other than the University of Maryland, College Park. Official copies of those transcripts are required before full admission can be granted.

  4. Letters of recommendation submitted by appropriate individuals who can assess the quality of the applicant's professional performance and scholastic potential. Letters of recommendation should be sent directly SPOC. Be certain that the applicant's full name is included on each recommendation. An automatic request will be generated for some recommenders to submit their letters of recommendation online.  The recommendation form is also acceptable. Please use the Life Sciences or Fire Protection recommendation form as appropriate.  Two letters are required for the Master of Life Sciences and three are required for the Professional Master of Engineering.

  5. Statement of Goals. Some online graduate programs require applicants to prepare a statement of his or her goals and objectives in pursuing graduate study.
